Grandma's Home Made Christmas Hats
Jean Rose Strout is making her début this Christmas season with” Jean Rose Designer Boggins”. I count it a privilege and an honor to write about this wonderful woman. She is nestled out in the middle of the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. You are just not going to find many ladies out there with so much personality, who are such a joy to be around.
She recently decided that she was going to try her hand and creating some hats from home to see if she would be able to make a few extra dollars.
A few years ago her husband of 56 years passed away. While it was an expected happening, it was no less than tragic. Together they had 3 children who had all had families of their own and had kids of their own. Before her husband, Bill Strout, passed away, they had made everyone's life a little more beautiful. This was especially true for the many grand-kids that she and Bill had been blessed with.
Jean had been by her husband’s side her entire life. Early in their marriage Bill was a well known Sherriff. He was known as "Blackie Strout" by the locals. During this time Jean had her picture taken for the newspapers as she headed up one of the first gun safety courses for women. Throughout Jean’s life she has never been satisfied with just letting life pass by but has always been an active part her home and church family.
Around this time they purchased 61 acres of land in Arkansas and began to clear the land. They purchased land in Arkansas because they had taken several vacations in the Rockies and loved the clear air and sunshine. She and Bill would have their grand-kids visit for the summer every chance they could.
When Bill was gone Jean needed something to help her make it through the tough transition of being alone. So she decided to go to the craft store and see if thing would spark her interest.
The little plastic knitting looms caught her eye and she decided to give it a try. Deciding to make a hat for every member in her family for Christmas she sat down and began her venture. They were a big hit, and not just because they were hand-made by a loved one. While looking for they yarns to make the hats with she just let her imagination dictate her choices. The textures, colors, sizes, and occasions made her options seemingly innumerable and She loved it
Her enjoyment in making these hats has recently translated into giving adorable names for her hats. From "Candy Cane" to "The Glamour Hat" Jean has put so much personality into her hats that it is hard not to love what she is doing. My personal favorite is her "Christmas Snow".
She has decided to give others the opportunity to own these little pieces of her personality by make the HUGE jump to selling them on the internet. She has put a video on YouTube, and you will be doing yourself a favor by checking it out. Even if it is only to give yourself an opportunity to have her put a smile on your face.
I would like to let you know that ANYONE can get started like this. By being who you are and letting people know what impassions you in what you are doing will set the stage for your online business.
